Intermittent Fasting


Looking to improve your health while simplifying your lifestyle? Join owner of Fruitive, Gregg Rozeboom, as he tries intermittent fasting in the month of January. Anyone is welcome to participate for a day, week, or the whole month!

He will be doing the 16/8 Method (leangains protocol). This involves skipping breakfast and restricting daily eating period to 8 hours, (I.e. noon to 8pm). Then you “fast” for 16 hours in between. This method is the most popular version of intermittent fasting as it is simple, sustainable, and easy to stick to. Gregg will be eating plant-based meals and exercising at least 20 minutes a day through yoga, running, etc.

Intermittent fasting focuses on the pattern of eating. It is a good way to jumpstart your health and even lose weight. According to Health Line, “when you fast, human growth hormone levels go up and insulin levels go down. Your body’s cells also change the expression of genes and initiate important cellular repair processes”. Intermittent fasting has also been known to facilitate weight loss, increase insulin resistance, reduce inflammation, support heart health, prevent cancer, increase brain health, and have anti-aging effects. We believe it also matters what you eat, so we have mapped out a template you can follow for meals!
